Tejo River and the Bugio
Description
Almost every day we see him, there, alone in the middle of the Tagus, serving as a guide to those who enter and leave Lisbon. It's our Bugio Lighthouse.
Strategic coastal defense
This lighthouse owes its name to the fact that it is located in the Forte de São Lourenço do Bugio, at the mouth of the Tagus River, which is also known as Forte de São Lourenço da Cabeça Seca or Torre do Bugio.
This one, was built here as part of the strategy to defend the Portuguese coast, in general, and the port of Lisbon, in particular, we were in the 16th century, around 1590
